Fall for Mocha
The 2025 Pantone color of the year is Mocha Mousse, “a warming, brown hue imbued with richness. It nurtures us with its suggestion of the delectable qualities of chocolate and coffee, answering our desire for comfort.” Especially now that fall is upon us, Mocha Mousse sounds pretty delicious! You can almost smell the coffee….
We used Farrow and Ball’s Mouse’s Back in a recent project, and it gave a warm, rich hue and a sense of depth to the painted walls and ceiling of a handsome golf room. (Stay tuned for photos of the finished project!) But mocha isn’t just for walls - chocolate brown upholstered furniture in materials like velvet, boucle, or leather imbues a room with warmth and luxury, especially when paired with complimentary accessories. Mocha plays well with lots of colors, including ivory, tan, dusty pinks, botanical greens, cornflower blue, and pretty purples. Interesting wood grains and finishes can also bring earthy brown indoors to your designs. Remember to balance the brown with other shades, because just like chocolate, a little goes a long way.
Mocha inspiration we love this fall:
Mocha mahjong - adding this stylish shade to your tiles only ups your game! And we are obsessed with the burlwood backs and ivory leather racks of these two sets.
Mars, the pygmy hippo - he is a perfect example of how cute mocha and pink can be!
Pumpkin spice, but make it an espresso martini! Did we mention that mocha looks great with pumpkin orange?
Pumpkins, but make them stylish! And they don’t have to be orange.
Can we even mention coffee without thinking about Gilmore Girls? Fall means it is time for Sally’s annual re-watch! (And look how good Rory’s purple hat looks with her brown coat!) Consider a Nectar & Nest-designed living room for your TV watching this fall!
If you are considering adding mocha into your design project this fall, call Nectar & Nest Interiors. We would love to discuss it over a cup of coffee!
